Abstract

This article analyzes the artistic features of portrait depiction in the famous novel چشم‌هایش (“Cheshmhoyash”) by Bozorg Alaviy, a prominent representative of 20th-century Iranian literature. The study examines the role of portraiture in reflecting the characters’ appearance, facial expressions, eye depiction, and psychological state. In addition, the article discusses the translation skills of Ahmadjon Qurbonbekov, who directly translated the work into Uzbek, focusing on how portraits are rendered in the translation. The study concludes that portrait depictions serve as an important artistic tool for revealing the inner world of the characters.
